8 Week Back to School In-Studio Art Program

This is an 8 week Art Course Curriculum being offered in person on Wednesdays from 3pm - 4:30pm.  Maximum number of participants is 8 in order to adhere to CDC guidelines on distancing in the studio (only running at 1/2 occupancy). We are also offering this course virtually (online) Tuesdays from 3pm-4:30pm there is a seperate event listing to sign up for the Virtual Course.

Dates for this course (in studio) are Wednesdays - Sept 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th  October 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th

Class 1 – Basics of Drawing.  Students will choose a simple object from everyday life and learn how to accurately depict it through drawing.

Class 2 – Color. Students will learn about the primary colors and how to mix them together to create a multitude of colors. They will create their one of a kind pallet to paint the still life they created the week before.

Class 3 – Clay Sculpture.  Students will use clay to turn the object created in Class 1 into a 3D art form as they explore clay sculpture techniques

Class 4 – Clay Slab. Students will learn the basics of working with clay slaps. They will create their own personal clay art pallet that can use during the course of our curriculum .

Class 5 – Clay Cylinders. Students will learn how to create cylinders from clay slab and will make a clay cylinder that can be used for paint brushes or school supplies.

Class 6 – Painting. Students will be introduced to glazing pottery and will learn about under and over glazes and will paint their clay pieces made in earlier classes with their choice of paints or glazes.

Class 7 – Watercolor. Students will create an abstract watercolor painting and learn about the artist that broke the rules!

Class 8 – Warm Glass. Students will learn the function and beauty of warm glass to create a trinket dish of their design. ­­
